10:25 am - Last Night's Concert - Aloha/mewithoutyou/Sparta

So we (Emma, Brad, and I) all went to see Aloha, who ended up being the first opener. Unfortunately, they only got 35 minutes to rock my socks off - but rock it they did. Killer rock-jazzy beats, solid guitars, the xylophone - who could ask for more? Not to mention they might have some of the best t-shirts ive seen in a while. And cheap too! Well done, Aloha!
So Aloha's set ended and we figured, hell i paid $12 for this, might as well stick around for the next set. mewithoutyou is like a mix of the cure and the hold steady except with serious mental issues. Had either Robert Smith or Craig Finn been at the helm, this band would have been decent, but instead it was some 27 year old technical virgin (actual lyric) going apeshit who's delivery sounded like he'd listened to way too much of the Hold Steady before he got on stage. Ironically, they played Cattle and the Creeping Things over the PA inbetween Aloha and mewithoutyou's sets. The rest of the band sounded like a cure song from Disintegration.
Didn't stay for Half the Drive-In. I'm pretty sure it was the masses of frat boys and aggro-rock lovers that kept me far far away from this set. Not to mention they've only got one good song (Cut Your Ribbon) and the probability of them playing it was slim. Oh silly bands that break up, and the no talent half go on to form a no talent band. Of course the talent half (The Mars Volta) got too full of themselves and also have no place in my iPod. I'd have stayed for the set if I was drunker and felt that one of the band members might have heard me shout "One Armed Scissor!!!"

Last night was Jason Collett @ the middle east - good show, guy looks like a philosophy prof, but enough on that.
Jason imparted some wisdom on those attending. Currently, the US is staging another large campaign in Afghanistan to force the taliban into the mountains. It's called Operation Mountain Thrust.
Everyone say it out loud. Pronounce each syllable. Operation Mountain Thrust.

Dear route 57 bus driver,
My noise reducing headphones are a good indication that I don't want to talk to anyone, let alone you. If you're going to say something to me, it'd better be damn important. Asking if I want a brainteaser at 8:30am is not important. Of course, after I said "uh, no" you said that I had to say yes, so I obliged. You directed me into the handicapped seat and proceeded to grill me with some brainteaser, to which I feigned little interest, then asked for the answer 30 seconds later. When I put my headphones back on, that should have been a hint that our communication was over. You apparently thought that meant I wanted another brainteaser. When I didn't asnwer, I think you got the hint.
I wear my headphones so that I don't have to talk to you in the morning. This goes for just about everyone around me.

9:54 am - two things

1) who's going to metric tonite? meet up?
2) i got my practice MCAT back. For reference I scored a 22 on the first one. I got a 30 on this one. (30 is basically my low end of a range i want, but with a 30 med schools will take you pretty seriously) For this, I'm in a stellar mood today.
